Shopping secondhand can make a difference.
Did you know it requires 2,700 liters of water (what one person drinks in two-and-a-half years) to make just ONE cotton shirt and the carbon footprint of a polyester garment, for example, is even higher? About 20 percent of industrial water pollution is due to garment manufacturing but there are environmental costs of literally everything we buy; so its best to start by looking first for it secondhand.
Thrift stores are not only full of affordable re-lovable finds, but also most give back to the local communities in a variety of ways which further helps elicit the positive change your purchase has. All items listed on this page and any personal shopping "commissions" are sourced from thrift stores in Kansas City, KS & MO but we hope to eventually connect a network of avid thrift shops and shoppers nationwide.
